The Look: Highly Kissable & Smokin’ Hot
Stella says the extreme elegance of bold lips work beautifully with fresh, luminous skin. Try this look for a black-tie wedding or the party of the century. Or any other occasion where you want to turn heads…
Great for: “A confident woman who likes to look well-groomed without the extra fuss,” explains Stella. “This look takes little time to create and is perfect for a daytime event, launch party, the races or flirty night out.”
Maintenance Level: Low.
“This slicked and simple ‘do will keep you looking well-groomed for the entire event. Just invest in a longwearing lipstick to avoid regular touch-ups throughout course of the day.”
Stella suggests using a longwear foundation to ensure your base lasts all day. “Also, invest in a longwear lipliner and lipstick to avoid it running, or worse, lipstick transfer,” she says. “I used Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven, for 14 hrs of continuous smudge-proof wear.”
Perfect for outdoor weddings or events with high wind-factor, this sleek updo has serious staying power. And, it’s super glam’ factor and it’s easy to create. “The hair was created in three simple steps in under three minutes,” says Stella.
Step 1. Create a centre part with a tail comb.
Step 2. Apply Kevin Murphy Easy.Rider to your hand and slick centre parting down, to create shine and help minimise flyaways.
Step 3. Brush hair to even out product distribution and tie off hair into a pony tail with a band. Tip: If you don’t like ponytails, you can easily convert this into a basic updo by twisting your ponytail into a low bun, then securing it with bobby pins at the nape of your neck.
The Look: Natural Beauty
For an ethereal look that’s high on romance and highlights your natural features, try this striking floral headpiece teamed with glowing skin. “Subtle colours and strengthened features are the highlight here,” explains Stella. “The look is married together with a lush, elaborate, Frida Kahlo inspired floral crown.”
Great for: “This timeless makeup look is soft and pretty – perfect for brides,” says Stella. “It’s great for someone who’s sophisticated, but doesn’t want to be too bold. But it’s also great for other events, from a black-tie functions to a casual lunch or night out on the town.”
Maintenance Level: Low.
“The lip stain ensures full-day colour, however you will need to add a lip gloss or lip balm to give it more of a luscious sheen,” Stella suggests. “The last thing you want is for colour to settle into dry crackly lips! You may also opt for extra hydration. What I love about this look is that it is simple but versatile – it can be edgy or chic just by adding the right fascinator to compliment the look. For this look, I focused on her skin – giving her a youthful, healthy glow.”
It’s all about beautiful, radiant skin. You glow, girl!
Step 1. To achieve this look, you need to really hydrate your skin with a rich moisturiser and illuminating primer. Squirt a few extra pumps of your illuminiser into your foundation base for some extra dew.
Step 2. Exfoliate lips prior to your makeup application. I exfoliate my lips during my cleansing routine at night. A natural remedy is sugar and honey or sugar and lemon – if your lips aren’t cracked. Or, you can just opt for your daily exfoliator. Use one that won’t irritate your skin.
Step 3. Apply Benefit bene-tint cheek & lip stain in rose-tinted to dry, freshly cleansed lips.
Step 4. Finish off lips with a prolong wear lip-gloss by MAC for a lasting gloss effect. This will make the lips look plumper, and it’s perfect for winter and dry seasons.
Step 5. Apply blush for a soft and fresh look.
Step 6. To finish off the look, I spritz MAC Fix Spray Mist to the face, patting it into the skin using my foundation brush. This is magic in a bottle – packed with vitamins and minerals it gently soothes and refreshes the skin. It gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup. A must have during the dryer months!
The beauty of this stunning updo, is you won’t need to wash your hair! “It’s perfect for next day hair,” says Stella.
Step 1. If you have clean hair, spray label.m Blowout Spray evenly to your hair.
Step 2. Blowdry hair upside down for quicker drying. This also maximises volume.
Step 3. Spray dry shampoo to your roots.
Step 4. Tie hair up into a high pony tail. Then style your ponytail with a fishtail braid and tie off. Hold onto the end of your braid and pull at the woven parts to dismantle the braid, giving it more separation and texture.
Step 6. Pin into a high messy bun.
Step 7. Add floral fascinator as a statement piece to this elegant and fresh look.
