Snezana & Sam Wood’s Long Distance Relationship Rules

Snezana & Sam Wood's Long Distance Relationship Rules

Long distance relationships can be tricky. I know. I’ve been there and done that. But imagine if you’re a celebrity, in the public spotlight, have a jam-packed job that includes frequent travel and attending loads of parties filled with gorgeous people – and camera phones snapping your every conversation!? Reality TV’s most glamorous and high profile couple, Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski know the drill.

Since starring on The Bachelor season three, the celebrities’ romance, work and lives have been put on full throttle. So when I was invited to the launch of the new Weet-Bix Blends range and discovered they were going to be there, I seized the opportunity to ask them a few nosy questions about how they make their relationship work. And they were all too obliging!  Here, Snezana and Sam share their long distance relationship rules…

1. Speak Easily & Often

It’s easy to send a text, but it’s so much more fulfilling to have a real conversation to stay connected. “No matter how busy life gets, you need to stay connected through voice and (if you can!) face to face communication – not just texting!” explain Snezana and Sam. “Make the time for each other to check in and see how you are doing.”

2. Schedule In Romantic Weekends

Long distance relationships may have their downfalls, like not seeing each other, but they also have their perks – when you do get together it can be super romantic. “Visit as often as possible and make those visits exciting,” suggest Sam and Snezana. “We see each other at least every two weeks and always get out and about. We all love travelling, getting outdoors and being active, so whether it’s hiking or a few days at the beach, we always make it fun.”

3. Work, Play & Do Creative Projects Together

If you and your long distance lover have mutual passions, get passionate about them together! “There’s nothing better than working on something you are passionate about with your partner,” explain the couple. “We are both passionate about encouraging others to make great choices when it comes to starting the day with a healthy breakfast and staying active – being the best version of yourself. So being able to work with Weet-Bix to launch their new Weet-Bix Blends varieties is a great opportunity to do what we love together!”

4. Be Spontaneous

You don’t need to book a hot air balloon over the Yarra Valley or write daily love notes to be found when you’re interstate, but a few romantic surprises do help keep the spark alive. “Keep it fresh,” suggest Sam and Snezana. “We always try and surprise each other and keep things romantic without going over the top.”

5. Keep It Real

Absence can make the heart grow fonder, or unleash the green eyed monster of jealousy and insecurity. Believe me, the former is more attractive! “Never let the craziness of the media spotlight distract from what is really important,” advise Sam and Snezana. “And that, of course, is how you feel about each other and being together.”
